The company in charge of providing health insurance service to expatriates announced a few days ago that it has suspended the collection of cash when applying for health insurance at the service center located in Jabriya area until Knet devices are installed based on coordination between Ministry of Health and Shared Electronic Banking Services (Knet) Company, reports Aljarida daily.

According to informed sources, the insurance company received a letter from Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs at Ministry of Health Mohammad Al-Subaiā€™e, urging the company to stop violating the financial regulations including collection of health insurance fees in cash.

The sources indicated that the suspension of collection of fees in cash brings to mind the January 2017 crisis related to gathering of mandoubs of companies at the Hawally center affiliated to Ministry of Health.

They lamented that the decision will result in delay in completion of transactions, consequently leading to imposition of fines for delayed renewal of expatriatesā€™ residence permits.

The sources revealed that the companyā€™s service center which is allocated for carrying out the companiesā€™ transactions completes about 6,000 transactions per day, adding that the number of transactions of some companies exceeds 250 transactions in a dayThe company responded by sending six letters to the ministry to affirm its readiness to suspend collection of fees in cash at the service center. It also revealed that the center does not have Knet machines linked to the automated system of health insurance.
