Health Insurance Fees Collected From Expats In Kuwait Are Declining
In the previous fiscal year, health insurance revenues for expatriates recorded the second highest collection rate in the Ministry's history. According to health sources, the Ministry of Health continues to receive very little or no money from some government agencies in regard to health insurance fees for expatriate workers. According to sources, the Ministry has not effectively followed up with government agencies to encourage them to pay the amount due it for the value of health insurance fees, which has ballooned to over 15 million dinars during the past fiscal year.
Despite the low collection of insurance value from government agencies, health insurance revenues from expatriates during the previous fiscal year were the second highest in the ministry's history at 1.2 million dinars, after recording more than 107 million dinars in the previous fiscal year.
According to the figures, the Ministry of Health collected 490.6 million dinars for health insurance services over the past five years. The Director of Nursing Services at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health, Dr. Iman Al-Awadi, stated, however, that the Ministry is keen to exchange experiences with the Jordanian side due to its distinguished nursing competencies of a high and varied level that deserve praise, appreciation, and contracting. Al-Awadi said this after meeting Kuwaiti Ambassador Aziz Al-Daihani, who headed a health committee visiting Jordan to select 120 nurses for the Ministry of Health.
Those qualified to fill part of the nursing shortage in Kuwait are being interviewed and tested for their experience and competencies, according to Al-Awadi. The committee interviews qualified persons in areas required by the Kuwaiti health sector, such as dialysis, operations, intensive care, internal diseases, and cancer. According to Ambassador Al-Daihani, the Ministry of Health is eager to benefit from Arab expertise and cadres. Jordanians are estimated to number 62,000 in Kuwait, according to him.
