Can Doctor Leave Private Clinic Before 3 Yrs If Hired From Abroad

06 July 2017 Legal

I am a doctor in a private clinic and I was hired from India. I have completed one year of service. Kindly clarify if the minimum service period for doctors is one year or three years. Thanking you.

Answer: Since you were hired from abroad by your current employer, you can not leave the company before serving three years; that is if the company insists on holding on to you.

However, if the company has no objection and is prepared to forego the remaining two years of your service, then you will be free to move on.
