As The 'omicron' Wave Ends, Mitigating Decisions Need To Be Implemented
According to figures and ratios over a period of 13 to 22 days, there are rising signals of stability in the country's epidemiological condition, indicating that the health authorities were able to control the virus with minimum harm to a large degree.
After the end of the national holidays, a medical source informed Al-Rai that he is confident about the drop in cases and sustained improvement in the country's epidemiological condition, and disclosed a "package of mitigating actions and decisions" if the favourable trends remained.
According to health sources, the cases of infection during the current wave, which began around the last week of December 2021, ranged between 4,445 and 6,913 per day for 13 days, indicating that this stability is a very important thing that indicates a peak during the fourth wave, during which a record number of cases appeared.
The second indicator shows the number of cases in intensive care units over a 15-day period, which fluctuated from 58 to 91 instances at its peak before declining somewhat to 86 yesterday.
This was followed by the third sign, the stability of cases admitted over the previous 18 days, which varied from 326 on January 20 to 549 yesterday.
Despite the exceptional number of cases, which peaked at 6,913 on January 28, sources believe the current wave is the least deadly, with the number of deaths ranging from one to two over a 22-day period, with the exception of yesterday, when three people died.
The fifth signal consistently shows infection rates compared to samples, which varied between 14 and 20.7 percent maximum over a 22-day period before returning to a significant reduction to 14.8 percent yesterday.
According to the sources, the sixth indication showed the number of recovery instances (5,150 cases of recovery compared to 4,445 injuries yesterday and 5,846 cases of recovery compared to 5,407 the day before yesterday).
According to the sources, the seventh factor is a decrease in the number of diseases and epidemiology indicators in Gulf Cooperation Council nations.
The sources verified that the country "is close to overcoming the intensity of the current wave and its downward trend" based on the seven indicators, adding that "this comes after a time of numerical stability."
The health system's achievement in surviving the current wave with low losses, although not imposing harsh limits, was praised by the sources
