Army Fund Forgery Case Involving Two Royals, Ex-fatwa Head, Referred To Court

According to the Criminal Court, Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah, Sheikh Mubarak Faisal Al-Saud, and former head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Salah Al-Mes'ad have been referred to the relevant court for trial on forgery charges related to the Army Fund. The court took this decision after it took into consideration Sheikh Hamad Sabah Al-Ahmad’s grievance submitted by Sheikh Abdullah Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad and Lawyer Amer Al-Shahoumi against the Public Prosecution’s decision issued by the former Public Prosecutor Dhirar Al-Asousi to dismiss the communication submitted by him against the aforementioned in case No. 1504/2021, Capital Prosecution, “214/2022 List of Grievances” and registered based on the communication submitted by Sheikh Hamad Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah against Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah and others.

After Sheikh Nasser Al-Sabah, who was at the time the Defense Minister, had informed the Attorney General in November 2019 that he suspected of crimes related to public money during the years prior to his assumption, the Army Fund was discussed. It is noteworthy that the Court of Ministers headed by Judge Nasr Al Haid ruled in the case of the Army Fund, acquitting the former Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al- Mubarak, the former minister of Interior and Defense Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah, the former undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Jassar Al-Jassar, a former military attache in London Fahad Al-Baz, former military attache in Bahrain Ali Al-Asker, former military attache in Lebanon Adel Al-Anzi, former army treasurer at the Ministry of Defense Samir Morgan, army treasurer Hamad Al-Banwan, Director of the Office of the Minister of Defense Wael Al-Fureih, and an officer of rank Colonel, on all counts
