The forthcoming visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Qatar promises to reinforce the enduring bond between the two nations, further enhancing decades-long ties and fostering greater cooperation between their leaderships and peoples.

Since Qatar's independence in 1971, Kuwait has stood as a steadfast ally, promptly recognizing and establishing diplomatic relations with the Gulf state, a gesture reciprocated by Qatar.

In 1972, Qatar's then Amir, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al-Thani, sent Qatari diplomats for training in Kuwait, alongside military personnel who received guidance from Kuwait's Defense Ministry, solidifying their collaborative efforts.

The strength of their relationship was perhaps most evident during Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990, where Qatar vehemently condemned the aggression and provided refuge to over 9,300 Kuwaiti citizens. Qatar further demonstrated its solidarity by actively participating in the coalition forces to liberate Kuwait in 1991.

In the aftermath of liberation, Qatar continued its support, aiding in Kuwait's reconstruction and development across various sectors.

Bolstering their ties, the two nations established a joint high Kuwaiti-Qatari committee in 2002 to enhance cooperation on regional and international fronts.

Kuwait played a pivotal role in resolving regional conflicts, including the 2014 GCC crisis and the subsequent Gulf crisis, under the leadership of the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

In recognition of Kuwait's contributions, Qatar launched the Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor in 2019, a significant infrastructure project named after a Gulf and Arab leader.

On security and defense, Kuwait and Qatar have signed several agreements to enhance their capabilities, with Kuwait participating in security duties during the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar.

Economically, the two countries established joint ventures, including a financing company operating under Islamic Sharia principles and a maritime line to facilitate trade and passenger transport.

In the petroleum sector, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and QatarEnergy inked a deal for Qatar to supply natural gas to Kuwait, further strengthening their economic cooperation.

In 2023, Qatar and Kuwait agreed to combat tax evasion through a project aimed at preventing double taxation on capital and income, showcasing their commitment to financial transparency and collaboration.
