180,000 Residence Violators, Last Date To Amend Status On 31st Jan
There has been a record number of illegal residents in the country as inspection campaigns were absent. Residence violators have increased by 38% with staggering 180,000 violators. Very few of them took advantage of a deadline announced by the Ministry of Interior who were allowed to amend their stay by paying fines.
The Ministry of Interior faces severe obstacles with residence violators mostly due to suspension of flights to 35 countries, besides this violators are not serious in amending their status reports Al Rai. The Ministry of Interior on more than one occasion has called upon violators to settle their status, only a small number of 2,500 expats have taken advantage. The grace period to settle ends on 31st of January.
There are thousands of violators residing in Jleeb Al Shuyoukh, Hasawi and in Amghara. There has been no serious move to activate the inspection campaign launched. The sources stated that due to absence of these campaigns since August the residence violators have increased to a record number from 130,000 to 180,000.
