To Monitor, Control Charity Work, Social Affairs Forms Six Teams

According to Salem Al-Rashidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Affairs' Social Development Sector, a six-member auditing team has been formed to ensure money collected during the holy month of Ramadan reaches the needy.

According to an Arabic daily, Al-Rashidi made the remarks while addressing the members of the supervisory teams at the first enlightening meeting of the Department for Charities Societies and Charities Associations. The meeting was held by the ministry in order to introduce them to their duties regarding fundraising procedures and their controls.

The director of the Ministry's Charity Societies and Charity Associations Department, Abdulaziz Al-Ajmi, said the specialized teams were assigned the task of looking for violations of all kinds (collecting cash and kiosks, deviating from the schedule set by the Ministry, along with targeting "circumvention" of the Knet program.

Various associations have asked to be able to collect donations in mosques, and this will be on the basis of a timetable approved by the endowments." "Collecting cash is prohibited in mosques and other places, as is selling clothing," he explained.
