Three Sites Allocated To Set Up Expatriate Housing Complexes
The Jahra Municipal Council Committee has agreed to allocate 3 sites for the construction of housing complexes for expatriate workers in the west of the city of Hajjaj, located north of Jahra, with an area of 150,000 square meters for each site. The committee has also referred three others sites in Shaddadiya to its Technical Committee, reports Al-Rai daily. The committee chairman, Engr Hamoud Al-Enezi, said that committee’s approval came in response to the Cabinet Resolution No. 913 which was taken at its July 20, 2020 meeting.
The approval also comes in support of the efforts of the Council of Ministers on the issue of expatriate workers, calling for the development of an integrated system for collective housing that ensures the existence of several municipal solutions and legislation and regulations that support what it called ‘group housing’, as well as providing programs that include fast-building group housing and linking it to market needs and government employment contracts. The source stressed that housing expatriate workers is a big challenge that puts pressure on urban areas and private housing areas, especially as this challenge intensifies the opportunity to reorganize the demographics and create projects with excellent resources. Al-Anzi added that the committee agreed to expand the main power station in Jahra, which enhances the efficiency of expanding the electrical network in the governorate; build two mosques in the Abdali Agricultural Area and the Ministry of Public Works will operate and maintain a network of treated water tanks in the Sulaibiya area in the Jahra Governorate.
