On International Labor Day, Kuwait Affirms Its Commitment To Workers' Rights

Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs, Sheikha Jawaher Al-Sabah, reiterated Kuwait’s dedication to safeguarding workers’ rights and enhancing their opportunities for advancement during a seminar held on Wednesday. The event, organized by the Sheikh Saud Nasser Al-Sabah Diplomatic Institute in collaboration with the Department of Human Rights Affairs, the UN Resident Coordinator Office, the International Labor Organization, and the UN International Organization for Migration, underscored Kuwait’s commitment to promoting a fair and equitable work environment.

Speaking to KUNA following the seminar, Sheikha Jawaher highlighted Kuwait’s participation in the annual global celebration of International Workers’ Day as a testament to its ongoing efforts to uphold human rights principles. She emphasized the significance of the Kuwaiti constitution, which enshrines regulations aimed at protecting workers’ rights across various sectors, both public and private.

Sheikha Jawaher also noted Kuwait’s proactive approach to collaborating with other nations and international organizations to combat violations of workers’ rights. Kuwait has signed 21 memoranda of understanding with different countries and 19 agreements with international organizations, demonstrating its commitment to promoting fair labor practices and ensuring the well-being of workers across diverse fields.

The seminar, attended by top diplomatic officials, served as a platform to reaffirm Kuwait’s unwavering dedication to advancing workers’ rights and fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment for all.
