The Ministry of Social Affairs will hold a meeting at the end of this month or early next February with the Parliamentary Budgets and Final Account Committee, the Ministry of Finance, the Financial Controllers Authority, and other related bodies to review decision taken regarding the financial and administrative observations made by these authorities regarding their work for the fiscal 2020/2021.
According told Al-Jarida Ministry of Social Affairs during the meeting will focus on the observations recorded on the work of the computer department in the ministry, which exceeded 30 notes, especially those related to contracts concluded with some companies executing the automatic connection and mechanization of services of the Ministry of Social Affairs in the planning and administrative development sector, reducing the estimated value of some of them and canceling others and save money for the State Treasury, estimated to be about 1.2 million dinars without affecting the services that have been provided.
The sources indicated that the former Minister of Social Affairs was satisfied with a committee to study all computer contracts and automated systems without forming an investigation committee to study each contract separately, to ensure whether there are suspicions of fraud and waste of public money, and even hold those involved in wrongdoing accountable.
The sources pointed out that Minister of Affairs Mubarak Al-Mutairi had stressed during his first meeting with the Undersecretary and the assistant undersecretaries, the need to “keep in mind the observations made by the supervisory authorities, and make these observations top of their priorities, so that they can be avoided in future and provide adequate responses to them.”
