Shuwaikh Port Security Breached?
In what is seen as a serious security breach that must be taken seriously, a number of boats, yachts or ‘cruisers’ entered the Shuwaikh Port which forced the closure of the port’s shipping line, reports Al-Qabas daily. According to what has been posted by the social media activists the video clips depict a group of ‘people’ entering the Shuwaikh port with their boats and cruisers and casting fishing nets inside the Shuwaikh port.
The social media activists placed the caption underneath the video clips, ‘Where are the port and control tower security authorities responsible to track marine vessels? Where are the vessels tracking devices in the face of this major security breach? In reply, the Kuwait Ports Authority announced it had monitored the entry of a number of fishing boats inside the marine sanctuary of the Shuwaikh port at dawn, Sunday, and added the Shuwaikh Port authorities immediately alerted the Safety and Security Sector — in this case the Coast Guard Department — of the Ministry of Interior in line with the standing procedures and precautionary measures to deal with this incident and said encroachment on an important vital facility in the port area is against the law.
