Rainwater Resources And Kuwait's Vision For A Greener Future

19 October 2023 Kuwait

In anticipation of sporadic light rain in some areas over the weekend, authoritative sources within the Ministry of Public Works confirm that the rainwater drainage network has been cleaned successfully.

Rainwater accumulation has been primarily targeted in locations prone to recurring accumulations. As reported by Al-Rai Daily, reliable sources report that the anticipated rainfall in the next few days will be mild and scattered, negating the need for an elevated alert level.

All relevant entities are included in this assessment, including the Ministry, the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport (PART), and the Rain and Flood Repercussions Committee.

The Acting Director of PART, Khaled Al-Osaimi, personally inspected subway station pumps to ensure their proper operation.

Furthermore, water suction pumps and related equipment will be strategically deployed at critical locations, including major highways and residential areas. Additionally, the Meteorological Department and all stakeholders responsible for managing the rainy season remain in continuous coordination.

The sanitary engineering sector is prepared for the rainy season, according to sources, as purification facilities across the country are fully equipped to deal with excess rainwater. The operators at these stations have been informed and are prepared for the impending rainy season.

The Meteorologist Fahd Al-Otaibi indicated that the potential for rain commenced last night and will persist through today, with a decrease in likelihood on Friday, followed by a resurgence likely on Sunday or Monday. It is important to note that any rainfall that does materialize will be light and scattered, affecting specific areas.

Al-Otaibi also predicts that the nation will experience moderate to heavy rainfall in November, with occasional showers extending into the winter season and onward into the Sarayat season.
