New Guidelines Announced For Hajj 2024 In Kuwait

15 July 2023 Hajj And Umrah

New guidelines have been released by Kuwait's Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs at the Ministry of Awqaf for the upcoming Hajj season in 2024.

As recommended by Saudi authorities, these rules aim to facilitate the preparation of approved Hajj campaigns as early as possible.

By February 25, housing contracts and sacred site assignments must be completed. Hajj visas will start being issued from March 1, with the electronic application platform closing on April 29.

The first pilgrims are expected to arrive in the Holy Land on May 9. Electronic registration via the dedicated platform will open on September 1 and continue for two months.

Applicants will be screened based on three proposals, one of which will be approved by the Supreme Committee for Hajj.

Priority will be given to those who have never made the Hajj before. The first proposal suggests a lottery system, while the second is based on age ratios. For the latter, those aged 50 and over would comprise 25 per cent of the 8,000 pilgrims, those aged 30 to 49 would make up 50 per cent, and those aged 18 to 30 would represent 25 per cent. The third proposal considers favoring the oldest applicants.

Moreover, the Supreme Committee for Hajj will consider another proposal to categorize the campaigns into three categories: Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

There will be a 5 percent increase in pilgrims in the Gold category, and 5-star services, such as modern cars of at least 2024 model, hotels overlooking the Haram, and other VIP services, are required.

In the Silver category, residents are required to live near campus and to use cars no older than 2021, while in the Bronze category, only 4-star services will be offered.

In addition, the Ministry of Awqaf will introduce a new mechanism to address high Hajj prices and reduce pilgrim costs, the details of which will be announced soon.
