Stop Responding To Fake Messages!

People should refrain from responding to messages from unknown sources, opening links or paying through unreliable links or websites; as such steps could empty their bank accounts, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a source from the security sector. The source warned that unscrupulous individuals are into these fraudulent operations to steal from people; indicating they illegally obtain vital information like the bank account number, password and name of the account holder. He said, "We received many complaints from people who responded to messages about the arrival of shipments or the purchase of items at low prices, only to find out later that their bank account balances turned to zero.”

He also stressed the need to verify banking transactions and avoid responding to or accepting links or downloading suspicious phone applications. On the other hand, officers from the Combating Counterfeiting Crimes Unit at the Criminal Investigation Department in the Ministry of Interior arrested two expatriates for luring people into exchanging currencies (dollars) for less than their market value, as they requested advance fees for the supposed bank transfers. Upon receiving the money, they cut off communication with their ‘clients’. The suspects were referred to Public Prosecution.
