‘need To Take Precautionary Health Measures During Camping Season’

26 August 2021 Kuwait

The Health Requirements Committee today, Thursday, looked into the health requirements and precautionary measures that have to be taken during the camping season between Nov 15 and March 15. This is in addition to the implementation of decision taken by the Cabinet for children to help them continue their activities at the beginning of next September. The deputy head of the main committee to monitor the implementation of the requirements related to combating the spread of the new Coronavirus (Covid- 19), and the director-general of the Kuwait Municipality, Ahmed Al-Manfouhi, told KUNA after the committee meeting that the study touched on the importance of maintaining a sufficient distance between each camp.

Al-Manfouhi added the study indicated the need to give more spaces than before to some public benefit institutions that wish to reserve places during the camping season in terms of adhering to physical distancing as a precautionary measure against the Coronavirus. He explained there is still plenty of time to approve the health requirements and put in place precautionary measures that must be adhered to during the camping season which will be soon announced. He stated the Kuwait Municipality regulations during the camping season have specified a mechanism for reserving a place in the desert areas, noting that this is done through the Municipality’s website (online) to acquire a license.

Al-Manfouhi explained the committee’s field teams will hold a meeting over the next two days with the commercial companies concerned with this issue to explain the health requirements and precautionary measures to be taken to protect children as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. He added since children have stopped their activities, whether in malls or entertainment places, for a long time, “We expect crowds of children in commercial and recreation areas, so there will be a mechanism to determine the number of children allowed to enter these places during certain times and application of all health requirements and physical distancing to protect their health. He explained reducing the number of children is what is important and required in places for children’s activities, whether in malls or entertainment areas, based on a study from the Ministry of Health, which has confirmed that some children who were infected with the virus did not show any symptoms, and this will transmit the virus to the family, especially the adults.
