Municipality Panel Approves Multi-story Parking Building Site Allocation

The Capital Governorate Committee in the Municipal Council approved the request of the General Staff of the National Guard for a multi-story parking building in the Mubarakiya Camps area to serve Al-Samoud camp. Kuwait Ports Authority's request to allocate part of the site for the tenth storage area in Doha for the Ministry of Defense was also approved. The committee, headed by Fahad Al-Abd Al-Jader, referred the letter from the head of the Municipal Council regarding the allocation of land for the oil complex in Shuwaikh area to the Legal Department for a legal opinion regarding the transaction if the subject matter falls within the Municipal Council's jurisdiction.

As part of the committee's recommendations, the executive branch was also asked to develop the intersection of Liberation Tower and Safat Square and link them to Mubarakiya, as well as to prepare a study on the possibility of electric tram surface trains within Kuwait City. Member Abdullah Al-Enezi also proposed allocating land in Jaber Al-Ahmad city for the purpose of establishing a multi-purpose social hall to address the Ministry of Social Affairs and update its response.

Several members of the Municipal Council, including Khaled Al-Mutairi, Dr. Hassan Kamal, Ismail Behbehani, Abdullah Al-Enezi, and Nasser Al-Jadaan, requested that traffic be closed at the Darwazat Al-Abdul Razzaq intersection continue. Kuwait University, Kuwait Performance Monitoring Agency, and the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation requested discussion of this matter.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Enezi's proposal to convert Street No. 141 in Sharq, Block 4 from investment use to commercial use was reserved by the committee. It also reserved the proposal submitted by member Fahad Al-Abduljader regarding creating parking lots at Saad bin Abada Primary School for Boys in Adailiya.

A member of the Municipal Council's Environmental Affairs Committee, headed by Alia Al Farsi, recently discussed all the items on its agenda and recommended referring them back to the executive body for an update and a technical opinion on them.

The items included proposals submitted by the member Architect Sharifa Al-Shalfan, including proposals to recycle plastic bottles and their covers, proposals for aerobic composting, and proposals to maintain the cleanliness of the marine environment and beaches. Alia Al-Farsi's proposal regarding allocating land for date palm cultivation in the north of the country was also referred back to the executive branch.

The proposal was referred to in order to update the response regarding it and expedite the response of the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) Regarding the minutes of the first workshop of the Environmental Affairs Committee in the second session of the 13th legislative term of the Municipal Council, which was held last month, the committee recommended that it be referred back to the executive branch, provided that the committee adopts prevention and reduction of the sand on the road phenomenon.
