Mew Warns Of Power, Water Supply Cuts

22 November 2021 Kuwait

The Ministry of Electricity and Water has sent 11,332 warning letters to customers with threats to cut water and power supply if they fail to pay consumption charges as part of the ministry’s drive to collect overdue bills.

Well-informed sources in the ministry told Al-Rai that “the ministry is determined to collect overdue bills and reduce the ministry’s ‘indebtedness to nearly half’ saying by the end of the fiscal year (March) 2022 the value of outstanding bills will exceed half a billion dinars if things remain unchanged.

The sources stated of late there has been a significant expansion of power cuts to all utilities including investment and commercial sectors, with the exception of private housing where the Ministry was satisfied with cutting only water supply to customers who fail to pay.

The ministry has called on all customers to take the initiative to quickly pay their debts through the means provided by the ministry to collect their dues, whether through the available electronic services or by visiting the ministry’s offices located in most regions.
