Leading Kuwaiti Businesswoman Dies, Aged 75
Leading Kuwaiti businesswoman Suad Hamad Al-Humaidhi has died, aged 75.
The deceased, who is the wife of late Information Minister Shaikh Jaber Al-Ali Al-Salem Al-Sabah, died at the hospital while undergoing treatment for an illness.
She became the first Kuwaiti businesswoman to invest in her country as well as in the Arab and European states and was cited among the most influential Arab businesswomen on Forbes many times.
She left a business empire which includes shopping malls, residential complexes in Kuwait and abroad, including a bank and residential tower in Beirut, Lebanon.
;She was also a member of the Kuwait-based properties’ owners union, member of Lebanese Audi Bank and holder of shares in many banks in Kuwait, including the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK). She is also the founder member of many other companies and establishments.
Dubbed the 'Ambassador of Kuwaiti Businesswomen', she was also ranked among the top investors in the real estate, banking and industrial sectors, in addition to many other economic domains.
In 2013, Arabian Business magazine named her the "10th Most Influential Arab Woman". She was honoured by the Arab Women Organisation during a ceremony held in Dubai in 2007.
