Kuwait's Amir Mishal To Take Constitutional Oath Wednesday

On Wednesday, the National Assembly will hold a special session to administer the constitutional oath to HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

In accordance with Article 60 of the Constitution, the Amir shall take the following oath at a special session of the National Assembly before taking over his functions:

‘I swear by God Almighty to respect the Constitution and the Laws of the State, to defend the people’s liberties, their interests and their property, and to safeguard the Nation’s independence and the safety of its territories.’

HH Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is Kuwait's 17th ruler under the Constitution and the Emirates Legacy Law. In accordance with the Emirates Legacy Law, the Council of Ministers declared him Amir of Kuwait on Saturday.

HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal has had a distinguished career that started nearly 60 years ago, during which he has shown himself capable of leading Kuwait. Throughout the three-year reign of HH the late Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal had always been the latter’s best supporter, the most honest consultant and partner in the remarkable achievements over the past three years.

In Bayan Palace, MPs Abdulkareem Al-Kandari, Muhannad Al-Sayer, Abdulaziz Al-Saqaabi and Abdullah Al-Mudhaf expressed condolences on the passing of HH the late Amir Sheikh Nawaf.
