Kuwaiti Tourists Urged To Respect The Thai Laws And Religious Beliefs
Ambassador of Kuwait to Thailand HE Abdullah Al-Sharhan called on Kuwaiti tourists to respect Thai laws, religious beliefs and the customs of the country especially in public religious places, and to stay away from suspicious sites in order to uphold Kuwait’s cultural role, reports Al-Rai daily.
He warned them against giving their mobile phones to anyone they do not know under any circumstances because they would not know who that person would call. He also warned them to not deliver any bag to another person. Ambassador Al- Sharhan said Thailand has a number of laws that a Kuwaiti tourist should know before they travel there, such as the country prohibits the entry of more than 200 cigarettes, adding that the violation of this law will impose a fine on the offending person. He revealed that sheesha and electronic cigarettes are also prohibited to be brought in through the airport, and placing power banks in travel bags is also banned.
The ambassador indicated that around 70,000 Kuwaitis visit Thailand annually for different purposes. He explained that the number of citizens currently receiving treatment in hospitals under the sponsorship of Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Health is close to 200.
There are Kuwaiti patients in Thai hospitals because of the excellence of these hospitals in treating bone diseases, cancer and gangrene. Ambassador Al-Sharhan affirmed that the Embassy of Kuwait in Bangkok follows- up the conditions of all Kuwaiti patients who go to Thailand for treatment through the Ministry of Health, renders necessary assistance and provides various support and care for them.
Meanwhile, the total number of money withdrawals by citizens and residents using their bank cards increased to KD 12 billion in the first half of this year. Out of this amount, KD 617.9 million was spent outside Kuwait, which however is much lesser compared to the KD 11 billion spent during the same period last year, reports Al-Rai daily.
