24 April 2024 Kuwait

Several Parliament members have voiced their discontent over the suspension of development projects in Kuwait following the announcement of the "Development Road" agreement signed by Turkey, Iraq, the UAE, and Qatar. The MPs highlighted Kuwait's precarious situation amidst political instability and leadership vacuums, which they argued deprives the country of opportunities and leads to significant losses across all sectors.

Emphasizing accountability, the MPs called on the incoming government to review and address these issues, with the National Assembly poised to oversee the matter closely. MP Muhannad Al-Sayer criticized the weak decision-making process, internal conflicts, and the succession of leadership changes, questioning the benefits of such developments.

Al-Sayer pledged to contest for the Public Funds Protection Committee, aiming to identify projects and hold the government accountable for neglecting public funds. Meanwhile, MP Abdul Karim Al-Kandari lamented the state's lack of decision-making ability and warned against leadership voids.

MP Abdullah Al-Anbai highlighted the delays and shortcomings in vital infrastructure projects, underscoring the toll on the Kuwaiti people. Similarly, MP Abdullah Jassim Al-Mudhaf pointed out the ramifications of political instability and neglected development.

The recent agreement between the UAE, Turkey, Iraq, and Qatar for the "Development Road" project aims to enhance cooperation in land roads and railways, facilitating transportation between Europe and the Gulf. Signed in Baghdad, the memorandum underscores regional efforts in infrastructure development.
