Kuwaiti Cleric Jailed For Offending The Uae

25 February 2020 Crime News

The Court of Appeal nullified the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance, which acquitted a Kuwaiti cleric of the allegation of offending the UAE, and thereby sentenced him to three years in jail with hard labor.

The case file indicated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs filed a complaint against the preacher and pleaded the court to charge the suspect and slap on him severe punishment, considering his action was capable of severing bilateral diplomatic tie between the two countries.

The ministry cited Article 4 of Law No. 30/1970 concerning state security crimes, stipulating that anyone who recruit soldiers against any friendly nation or perpetrated acts deemed offensive against them, in addition to any action that can lead to the danger of war or sever diplomatic ties with the friendly country, shall be liable to a minimum of three years in jail.
