Kuwait Tops Social Rating

04 November 2021 Kuwait

Kuwait ranked first in the Arab world and 50th globally in the Social Progress Index for the year 2021, which was issued by the American non-profit organization Social Progress Imperative. It also ranked 15th in the world in terms of per capita GDP, which amounted to $49,854, reports Al-Rai daily. The Social Progress Index ranks 163 countries for which data is available on 12 components.

The organization uses these components to measure the degree of social progress of the countries from the highest to the lowest, with the classification ranging from countries with “very high” social progress to “very low”. The index based its methodology for classifying countries on the measurement of the following: 1. Basic human needs – basic medical care and nutrition, water and sanitation, shelters, and personal security. 2. The basics for well-being – access to basic knowledge, access to information and communication, health, and environmental quality. 3. Opportunities – personal rights, personal freedom and choice, tolerance and inclusion, and access to advanced education.
