In 2022, 13,000 Divorce Cases Will Be Filed In Kuwait
The Family Counseling Department of the Ministry of Justice has released its annual statistics for the year 2022. These statistics provide valuable insights into the number of cases received, the outcomes of those cases, and the distribution of services across various governorates in Kuwait. In this article, we delve into the details of the statistics and highlight key findings.
Throughout 2022, the Family Counseling Department received a total of 13,814 cases. Out of these, 6,033 cases were provided with the "case search" service, enabling individuals to seek information and guidance regarding their cases. This service plays a crucial role in assisting individuals during the initial stages of their legal proceedings.
The statistics reveal that 597 cases out of the 6,033 received cases resulted in divorce. Among these, 4,131 cases (68.5 percent) ended in revocable divorce, while 1,305 cases (21.6 percent) ended in reconciliation between the spouses. Additionally, 597 cases (9.9 percent) reached finalization of divorce, marking the end of the legal process.
The Family Counseling Department operated morning branches in several areas, including Farwaniya, Reqqa, Sulaibikhat, Ahmadi, Jahra, Mubarak Al-Kabeer, and Hawally. The distribution of cases across these areas is as follows:
Case Search Service: Out of the total cases, 6,033 received the case search service, allowing individuals to explore their legal options and seek guidance.
Centers for Settlement of Disputes and Combating Domestic Violence: A total of 3,844 cases were presented to these centers, indicating the department's commitment to resolving disputes and addressing domestic violence issues.
Family Dispute Experts: 3,356 cases were presented to family dispute experts who specialize in providing professional guidance and mediation.
Legal Advice: The department provided the necessary legal advice to 581 cases, ensuring individuals had access to proper guidance in their legal matters.
Cases by Governorate:
The statistics also reveal the distribution of cases across different governorates:
Farwaniya and Capital: These governorates had the highest number of examined cases, with each recording 2,753 cases.
Ahmadi: The governorate recorded 1,060 cases.
Jahra: A total of 994 cases were examined in this governorate.
Hawally: The governorate accounted for 757 cases.
Mubarak Al-Kabeer: The governorate had 469 cases examined.
