Grilling Request Has Nothing Personal Against Jenan
MP Omar Al-Tabtabaei said that his interpellation which he has filed against the Minister of Public Works and Minister of Housing Affaires Jenan Al- Bushehri has nothing to do with the person of the minister but is in the interest of the nation.
He added the main axis of the interpellation which is scheduled for Nov 12, 2019, is about squandering of public funds in the two ministries which are headed by her.
He also cited, the recent rainfall and the havoc it has caused because of the faulty drainage system in some areas and said even the Ministry of Public Works was not spared from ‘water leakage’. He questioned the alleged repairs and preparations for the rainy season the minister was highly talking about.
The MP also said there have been ‘whispers’ that the minister has been negotiating with some MPs and using supervising positions under her care as bargaining chips to sway them away from the interpellation.
However, the minister was quick enough to deny such allegations and challenged the MP to disclose the names of MPs that she has been allegedly negotiating with. She added during the interpellation the Kuwaitis will get first hand evidence and proof about who is the protector of public funds and who is in the forefront of serving the countrymen.
Furthermore, the chairperson of the Financial Affairs Committee of the National Assembly MP Safa’a Al-Hashem disclosed that the committee has decided to form an internal sub-committee to address the ‘heavy load’ on the agenda, which includes financial legislation specifically aimed at public welfare.
She assured that the committee’s report on the pension substitution bill submitted by the former committee will remain as it is and will be on the agenda of the National Assembly.
The MP also said that she expects the government to follow its normal course concerning the interpellations and either request the cancellation of grilling points or outright refuse to face the interpellation. The MP affirmed that the government has the tendency of sacrificing ministers and therefore she is looking forward to seeing the weakest link within the cabinet describing the interpellations which the MPs are preparing to fireworks.
