Government Hires 4,191 Kuwaitis And Expats
The Al-Anba daily reported that 4,191 citizens and residents were appointed to 12 government agencies during the first three months of this year, whereas there were 272 fewer workers in five other agencies at the end of last March. During the first three months of this year, the number of workers in 17 government agencies, including citizens and residents, increased by 3,919, reaching approximately 336.84 thousand at the end of March 2022, compared to 332.93 thousand at the end of December 2021, according to recent figures released by the Central Administration of Statistics.
There were 1,790 new appointments at the Ministry of Education, followed by 930 at the Ministry of Electricity and Water, 571 at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, 377 at the Ministry of Works, and 373 at the Ministry of Health. A total of 3,535 Emiratis have been appointed to the 17 government agencies as of the end of March 2022, an increase from 264.65 thousand men and women last December.
According to the data, the number of expatriates working in government grew by 384 from 68,279 thousand in December to 68.66 thousand at the end of March. The Ministry of Health had the most expatriates with 351 new hires during the last month, bringing the number to 34.53 thousand at the end of March, followed by the Ministry of Education with 122 new hires, bringing their number to 26,886 thousand at the end of March. Nine out of 17 regions saw a decline in expatriate employment during the month.
