Environment Public Authority Develops Renewable Energy Strategy In Kuwait

Acting Director General of the Kuwait Environment Public Authority (EPA), Eng. Sameera Al-Kandari, reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to enhancing mutual cooperation with European Union countries in the field of renewable energy on Wednesday. Al-Kandari delivered her remarks during The Green Transition symposium, organized by the EPA in coordination with the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), titled “Kuwait’s Sustainable Future … Collaborative Solutions.” The event featured participation from energy experts in Kuwait and EU countries.

Al-Kandari highlighted that the symposium aimed to introduce the green transition project, renewable energy sources, and strategies to enhance their efficiency within relevant institutions. She noted that Kuwait has a notable record of investments in renewable energy through its investment funds and aims to leverage cooperation with EU countries to gain expertise in capacity building, technology transfer, improving energy efficiency, and utilizing best practices and solutions.

European Union Ambassador to Kuwait, Anne Koistinen, emphasized the EU's role as a major supporter of the green transition, reiterating their commitment to supporting Kuwait in achieving its renewable energy goals for 2030. Koistinen highlighted that the event provided an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and present optimal solutions for green transition and integrating renewable energy technologies. She also underscored the importance of improving environmental regulation and economic diversification strategies in Kuwait through investments in renewable energy.
