The Ministry of Information has referred 80 media institutions to the Public Prosecution and withdrew the licenses of 90 electronic newspapers for committing violations, reports Al-Shahed daily. The ministry explained such measures were taken as per the relevant laws on organizing publication and printing as part of the commitment to responsible freedom of the press and to prevent media chaos. It said the committee tasked to uncover media violations is keen on observing the websites, social media accounts, newspapers and television channels in order to make sure no violations are committed. It also stressed the need to adhere to the principles of accuracy, honesty and credibility in reporting.
