Emergency Teams Ensure Smooth Flow Of Rain Water To Sewage Lines
The emergency teams of the Ministry of Public Works (MPW), the Public Authority for Roads Transport (PART) and other concerned authorities to look into the after-effects of the rain.
The ministry is in constant touch with the Department of Meteorology to know the weather forecast particularly rain to deploy emergency teams that which work round the clock in three shifts in all the governorates, particularly in areas prone to rain water flooding to ensure no one gets trapped or face hardships.
These teams were active Saturday evening in several areas particularly in Jahra and the Farwaniya Governorates because the sources said construction waste, waste from restaurants and shops hampered the rain water fl ow to the sewage lines especially in areas such as Taima, Al-Naseem, Al-Qasr, Saad Al-Abdullah, Sabah Al-Nasser, Al-Farwaniya and Khaitan. However, the emergency teams, with maintenance contracts companies, were able to remove the obstructions and help the smooth fl ow of water in record time.
The sources indicated the maintenance teams of the ministry and PART work round the clock especially at tunnel sites and other blockage prone area to prevent any accumulations of rainwater as it happened in the Mangaf tunnel during the 2018 rains.
The sources explained there were cases of water collection on Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Road (formerly Abdali), but the emergency teams acted promptly to deal with the situation to facilitate traffic fl ow by using suction pumps to drain the accumulated rain water. In the meantime, the sources called on citizens and residents not to throw waste into the manholes openings to prevent blockages.
