Egypt Lauds Kuwait’s Cooperation In Bid To Fight Corruption, Save Money
The head of the Administrative Control in Egypt, Staff Major-General A.H. Sherif Saifuddin has praised His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad for sponsoring the Kuwait International Conference on Fighting Corruption ‘Integrity for Development’, which started its work yesterday, reports Al-Anba.
Major-General Saifuddin told the daily on the sidelines of the conference in the presence of Egyptian Ambassador Tariq Al-Qouni, that the Administrative Control has carried out more than 11,327 supervisory works in the field of anti-corruption in Egypt in 2018 alone and prevented corrupt activities and recovered millions of Egyptian pounds that the state would have lost.
He pointed out that Egypt recently launched the second phase of its national strategy to fight corruption, under the auspices of President Abdulfattah El-Sisi, and implementation started at the beginning of this month and will continue until the end of 2022. He stressed the task of combating corruption requires that we all cooperate in order to contain this scourge and reduce the spread of this disease.
He thanked the head of the Kuwait Public Authority for Combating Corruption, ‘Nazaha’ Advisor Abdulrahman Al-Namish for his generous invitation to participate in this important conference and described him as a colleague in the fight against corruption.
He pointed out that the Administrative Control is pleased to share Kuwait’s scientific and practical experiences through training courses, workshops and seminars held by the National Anti-Corruption Academy of the Authority. He added, Egypt is attaching great importance for the need to integrate regional and international efforts to combat corruption.
He spoke about the supervisory work done out by the Authority in 2018, which saved the Egyptian State Treasury 1.860 billion Egyptian pounds, in addition to taking legal action against 1,747 employees in the public or private sectors for committing criminal offenses and other violations, as well as taking preventive control measures.
