Computer Science Degree Holder From Philippines Wants To Change Job After 2 Yrs
I am almost finished with my two-year visa (Visa 18) with my current employer. I was hired from my home country, Philippines, and a degree holder of Computer Science. A new company is giving me a job offer, will I be able to transfer to the new company after finishing my two-year contract if I am a college graduate? What will happen if my current employer will not give me a release?
Name withheld
Answer: Under Kuwait’s Labour Law, you are duty-bound to work three years for a company that brings you from your home country before you can ask for a release to join another company. In short, if your current company will not give you a release, there is nothing you can do except serve the three years or be returned to your home country with the possibility of compensating the company for the remaining one year of service.
