Cid Stated All Magic Tools Confiscated By Inspectors Have Been Destroyed Completely
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Anas Al-Saleh stated all magic tools confiscated by inspectors from the General Customs Directorate have been destroyed completely, according to the legal customs procedures, reports Al-Rai daily.
In response to a question from MP Majed Al-Mutairi, the minister said the unified GCC law no. 10/2003 and relevant bylaws do not include articles incriminating the import, export or possession of tools used for magic.
Director of Customs’ statement indicated the Public Prosecution notified General Customs Directorate in 2006 on its decision to cancel lawsuits related to the activities of magic, because import or export of magic tools are not banned—especially as the owners do not smuggle the items into the country.
Al-Saleh denied receiving warnings from local, Gulf or international bodies concerning the dangers of smuggling tools used for magic. He added the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has notified General Customs Directorate that destroying confiscated magic tools is not part of its duties, indicating it’s the responsibility of Criminal Investigations Department in the Interior Ministry.
He pointed to total coordination among the sectors at all times, and reiterated Criminal Investigations Department destroys confiscated magic tools on a regular basis.
He also said the Customs Directorate issued Decree No. 110/2012 to regulate materials brought into Kuwait by travelers upon their arrival at the ports of entry, which include amulets and charms— according to the fatwa issued by Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
