China: 'mountain Fire' After 133-passenger Plane Crashes

Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reported that 133 people aboard a China Eastern passenger jet have died in a crash in southwest China that ignited a mountain fire, though the number of casualties has not been confirmed.

Located near Wuzhou city, in Guangxi region, the Boeing 737 crashed and set off a mountain blaze, reports CCTV, citing the government's emergency management agency.

In the report it was noted that rescue teams were dispatched.

According to Chinese television, a China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737 crashed and caused a fire in Teng county, Wuzhou, Guangxi.

After taking off from Kunming shortly after 1:00 pm (0500 GMT) Monday, China Eastern flight MU5735 failed to arrive at its scheduled destination in Guangzhou, local media reported.

When AFP contacted China Eastern, there was no response.
