Businesses ‘unhappy’ With Work Timings After Curfew
The decision of the Council of Ministers to reopen commercial activities as obtainable prior to the imposition of lockdown is characterized by ambiguity, lack of clarity and frankness, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Even though the Council of Ministers discussed the matter during its meeting a couple of days ago, it was content with urging everyone to continue adhering to physical distancing and covering the nose and mouth with masks, in an effort to complete all stages of the plan for the gradual return to normal life and the return of activities except for the activities of the fifth phase.
According to informed sources, the Cabinet’s position on the reopening of activities, which were affected by the closure for a long time and resulted in heavy losses, appeared ambiguous, as it is not known whether these activities were allowed to return based on the previous timings or not, especially the shops and restaurants in the malls and commercial complexes.
The sources asked what difference it would make if businesses are opened from 6:00am to 8:00 pm or 12:00 am as long as all employees and customers abide by the required health requirements.
They indicated that the owners of those activities, who suffered huge losses due to the long closure period, have been waiting for clemency from the Council of Ministers in their condition, and help in being compensated for what they lost, by reopening their shops at the usual times that were in place before the lockdown.
