Amir Marks 3 Years Of Rule With Congratulations

As Kuwait commemorates the third anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah assuming office on September 29, 2020, a new era of development has begun. After 14 years of the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s rule, His Highness Sheikh Nawaf who was then the Crown Prince took his constitutional oath before the National Assembly (Parliament) as the 16th Amir of the State of Kuwait. In his early years, he was known for his hard-working personality and various accomplishments which later reflected on his political career in which he was successful in every position he held.

His Highness the Amir started his political journey as the governor of Hawally district in February 1961, until March 1978, when he was appointed as the Minister of Interior, and in 1988 as the Minister of Defense. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad was appointed Minister of Social Affairs in the new government after Kuwait was liberated from Iraq in April 1991. He served in that position until October 1992. In October 1994, His Highness the Amir served as Deputy Chief of the National Guard until July 2003. During his service in the National Guard, he contributed to further training and preparations of guards to maintain Kuwait’s peace and stability. Following his position as Minister of Interior in 2003, an Amiri decree was issued appointing him as First Deputy Prime Minister until 2006, when he was named Crown Prince of Kuwait.

Upon assuming his rule, His Highness the Amir vowed to continue the legacy of the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah by maintaining national unity and protecting stability and security. At the 41st GCC Summit, hosted by Saudi Arabia in 2021, Kuwaiti media will complete the Kuwaiti mediation process for unifying Gulf Cooperation Council member countries and strengthening the pan-GCC dialogue. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has received a message from His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, expressing congratulations on the third anniversary of His Highness the Amir’s taking of the helm of power.

His Highness the Crown Prince, in the cable, expressed sincere felicitations and cordial sentiments on the occasion of His Highness the Amir’s ascending to the top post, wishing him lasting good health and praying to His Almighty to keep him “as the father and supporter” for the people of Kuwait. He recalled, on the glorious national occasion, the comprehensive achievements that have been made during His Highness’ era in various fields, affirming that Kuwait, with steady steps, would head for further development and prosperity. “We also renew the declaration of allegiance to pursue fulfilling the tasks faithfully behind your sagacious leadership for the sake of promoting our precious homeland,” His Highness Sheikh Mishal wrote to His Highness Sheikh Nawaf.

In return, His Highness the Amir sent a letter to His Highness the Crown Prince, expressing gratitude for his brotherly torrents of feelings, manifesting identical wishes for him and his homeland. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has received messages from National Assembly Speaker Ahmad Al-Saadoun, His Highness the Chief of the National Guard Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah and His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.

Among the senior and ranking officials and figures who expressed good wishes to His Highness the Amir on the national occasion was His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who wished His Highness well-being, praying that he may remain Kuwait’s sagacious leader and mastermind of its development. In return, His Highness the Amir sent letters to the good wishers, voicing identical wishes for them and the homeland. The Ministers of Defense and Interior congratulated on Thursday His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah on the third anniversary of assuming office.

In a cable address to His Highness the Amir, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah expressed wishes for good health and welfare on this glorious occasion. The minister affirmed that Ministry members would continue onward to safeguard Kuwait’s security under the watchful eye of the leadership, vowing to continue efforts to protect citizens and residents alike against any harm or danger. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, wished His Highness good health and continued success.
