A New Age Limit Has Been Set For Joining The Army

31 July 2022 Kuwait

Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Acting Minister of Interior, directed to raise the registration age for those wishing to join the military, such as officer cadets holding a bachelor's degree from Ali Al-Sabah College.

HH the Prime Minister Lieutenant-General Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, in a press statement on Saturday, said this decision was a translation of the political leadership's directives allowing Kuwaiti youth to serve, because they are one of the most important pillars of development, construction, and renaissance for Kuwait's future.

Additionally, Sheikh Talal Khaled directed the competent authorities in the Ministry of Interior to open registration for all university majors for those wishing to enroll in the Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences, to amend the minimum rating for holders of university qualifications, and to adjust the acceptance rates for high school certificate holders so that they are uniform with college rates.

According to the document, these amendments aim to ensure justice and equality in the admission policy and conditions for military and security colleges throughout the country, while not violating or conflicting with the regulations and laws approved in this regard, and emphasize the adoption of the lottery system to select the accepted applicants in the event that a greater number of applicants passed the requirements.

According to it, this step also reflects the exceptional circumstances that the country has experienced due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting restrictions which prevented its citizens from accepting the honor of military service.

As a country under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and His Highness the Crown Prince, may God protect and preserve them, Sheikh Talal Khaled expressed his prayers for God to assist the sons of the country to complete the process of giving, sacrifice, and redemption.
