32,000 Driving License Of Expats Cancelled This Year

A total of 32,000 driving licenses were withdrawn from expats as they did not meet required conditions or they had obtained illegally in the first ten months of the current year. 2,400 driving licenses of Kuwaiti citizens were withdrawn due lack of mental illness whereas some had visual disabilities, from which the majority were males.


There has been a decrease by 43% for issuing new driving licenses since January to the end of October 2021. From 72,000 driving licenses the figure dropped to 41,000, reports Al Rai. Colonel Nawaf Al-Hayyan of the General Traffic Department stated that the department is strict in issuing driving licenses specially after linking them with other government ministries which includes Residence Affairs, Public Authority of Manpower and Authority for Disabled. 


Expats students who possessed a driving license after completing their studies a block was placed on their license. Also those who had changed their profession or did not meet conditions their license was revoked. Residence permits will not be renewed unless they hand over their driving license.
