2,599,541 Expats With Valid Residence In Kuwait

The number of expatriates who hold valid residency is believed to be 2,599,541, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a security source. The same source said more than 110,000 expatriates are violators of the residence law, in addition to the number of illegal residents or people who are known as bedoun in Kuwait.

Statistics given by the Residence Affairs Department show those holding valid residence under Article 17 and working in the public sector, are 107,698 persons; Article 18, working in the private sector 1,300,285; Article 19, businessmen with Kuwaiti partners, 377; Article 20, domestic workers, 651,454; Article 22, dependent visas, 536,829; Article 23, University students and those on scholarships, 637 and Article 24 or self-sponsors, 2,261.
