The Monitoring and Follow-up Department affiliated to Capital Municipality carried out campaigns against traders of spoiled foodstuffs. It raided a warehouse in Shuwaikh area and confiscated and destroyed 1.523 tons of spoiled foodstuffs. It also held a campaign in Souk Mubarakiya during which it confiscated and destroyed 45 kilograms of spoiled fish.
Director of the department Eman Al-Kandari affirmed that the inspectors of the department will periodically inspect all areas of the governorate to identify any violations and ensure relevant regulations are applied on violating shops and restaurants. Al-Kandari revealed that the 1.523 tons of spoiled foodstuffs confiscated from the warehouse in Shuwaikh included Swiss-made, Holland-made and Italian-made chocolates and milk that were expired.
