Tragic Incident Unfolds As 14-Year-Old Arrested For Parents' Murder In Miramonte, California
In a harrowing incident, a 14-year-old boy was apprehended on Friday for the murder of his parents and the attempted murder of his younger sister at their Miramonte, California home, as reported by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
The minor, whose identity remains undisclosed, is now facing two charges of murder and one count of attempted murder stemming from the tragic attack that occurred on December 27, according to Mayor John Zanoni as reported by Al-Rai daily.
Law enforcement received a 911 call on Wednesday evening from the teen, who claimed that an intruder had broken into their home, assaulted his parents, and fled in a pickup truck. Upon entering the residence, police discovered the lifeless bodies of Lui Yang and Si Fang, both 37 years old, with an 11-year-old girl in critical condition.
However, inconsistencies in the teenager’s account led investigators to conclude that he had fabricated the break-in story. It was revealed that the teen had employed "multiple weapons" in the attack on his family.
Fortunately, a fifth family member, the suspect's 7-year-old younger brother, was present in the house at the time and remained unharmed.
Addressing the media during a press conference on Friday, Mayor Zanoni emphasized the magnitude of the tragedy and urged parents to stay connected with their children, understanding their mental well-being.
The investigation is ongoing, with interviews being conducted to assess the boy's behavior at school.
