Traffic Department Completed Study On Increasing Fines
The General Traffic Department has completed a study on increasing fines for grave traffic violations.
According to Al-Shahed Arabic news paper, the officials will refer the study to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah for approval. Once approved, it will be sent to the Cabinet and then to the Parliament for voting.Â
The daily reported that the study suggests a fine of KD 100 against those caught crossing red signal or parking in
spots allotted for the disabled. The penalty for careless driving will be referral to the court, imprisonment and fines, indicating that those who are caught speeding, especially at speed above 180 km/hr, will also face imprisonment and fines. Penalties for rest of the violations including use of mobile phones while driving have also been increased in the study.
