The Mubarakiya Market Is Being Repaired By Three Entities
Eng Nadia Al-Shraideh, the Kuwait Municipality's Deputy Director-General for Projects Sector Affairs, said a number of concerned officials met on Wednesday to discuss the state of Mubarakiya markets following last week's fire, which destroyed everything beyond recognition.
Several proposals were made to the Council of Ministers at the meeting, according to a local Arabic daily, including the following:
* Establishing a working group under the auspices of the Municipality or the Ministry of Finance, with involvement from all parties concerned (municipality, Ministry of Finance, National Council), to monitor the situation until it is resolved.
* Charging the National Council with rehabilitating and restoring the stores and allocating a budget to do so until the shops are returned to their owners.
* Acceptance of the Ministry of Finance's vision for completely developing the fire-affected area.
