Strict Control Including Lockdown Expected If Situation Not Controlled Before Ramadan

06 February 2021 Kuwait

The unprecedented increase in daily infection and high occupancy rate at the ICU will push the government to tighten the controls gradually. Quoting government sources, local Arabic newspaper Al Qabas reported that the government might resort to steps including partial lockdown if the situation cannot control as planned.

As the holy month of Ramadan is approaching, in which family and social gatherings will increase, authorities fear increasing pressure on the medical staff.

According to the latest statistics, the intensive care occupancy rate at hospitals increased from 9 to 15%, and the hospital occupancy rate of corona patients increased from 7 to 11%.

Local media, quoting government sources, said that the government would resort to closing any activity that contributes to the spread of the epidemic. Authorities are striving to contain the situation before the start of Ramadan, and if this does not happen, many strict measures will be taken, including the lockdown, daily added.

Authorities monitor any activities, which may cause the spread of the epidemic, and strict action will be taken against violators.
