Storm Daniel Kills 2,000 People In Libya, Thousands Are Missing

According to Acting Libyan Prime Minister Osama Hammad, the death toll from the floods that swept several eastern cities has reached more than 2,000, while thousands are still missing. In a press release, Hammad stressed that several residential neighborhoods disappeared after the floods swept them into the sea along with thousands of their residents, describing the situation as catastrophic. Yesterday, the Mediterranean storm Daniel swept several regions in eastern Libya, most notably the cities of Al-Bayda, Al-Marj, Sousse and Derna.

In the meantime, Kuwait has expressed sympathy and solidarity with Libya regarding the storms and floods that have ravaged Eastern Libya killing thousands and injuring tens of thousands. The Kuwait Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends condolences to the families of the victims and wishes the injured a speedy recovery.
