Sponsors Renew Domestics Iqama Online

A total of 599 residency renewal transactions for domestic workers (Article 20 visa) were processed through the official website of the Interior Ministry on Monday — the first day of launching the site, reports Al-Rai daily.

This is in line with the decision to renew the residency permits of domestic workers online starting from the beginning of the year. 

In a statement to the daily, Director of the Public Relations and Security Media General Department at the ministry Brigadier Tawheed Al-Kandari confirmed the beginning of the implementation of an advanced security strategy by switching to electronic services.

He disclosed the residency permits of 599 domestic workers were renewed on the first day of launching the site, through which the sponsors can renew the residency permits of their domestic workers online.  He said this step is being taken to ease procedures for the citizens in completing domestic labor related transactions; in addition to preventing crowds in the residency affairs departments as per the health regulations, especially since the country continues to take precautionary measures to curb the spread of corona.

He went on to say that the Residency Affairs Sector has provided a special counter for the elderly and people with special needs to complete their transactions quickly and easily.

He advised the sponsors of domestic workers to refrain from visiting the residency affairs departments as they can renew the residency permits of these workers online within a few minutes.  He affirmed that many citizens have so far availed the electronic services provided by the ministry.
