Secondary Teachers Working Hours - Moe

The Ministry of Education is exploring the mechanisms for high school teachers on August 4, whether from their homes or schools, while examining obstacles to applying distance education for students with the start of the new school year in October.

While the Minister of Education announced the Minister of Higher Education d. Saud Al-Harbi, last Thursday evening, ending the current academic year 2020/2019 for grades until eleventh, with the 12 students continuing to teach them remotely, and conducting an electronic evaluation for them. Educational sources told Al-Jarida that the ministry is seriously considering proposals for the next academic year 2021 / 2020, whereby the study will start on October 4 with the system of distance education, explaining that the decision so far will be the permanence of teachers and giving lessons from their homes “online”, although this is subject to change, according to the variables that may occur in the health situation in the country.

The sources said that the relevant sectors of the Ministry are studying the mechanism of applying distance education, in a way that is appropriate for the next stage, and the possibility of reducing the curricula of the next academic year by deleting 30 percent of them, stressing that a team of “education” considers that teachers should be permanently employed in their schools, so that the teacher gives his share From the distance education system, and the teachers are distributed in the classes, pointing out that the ministry will not allow teachers to gather in the classroom at the end of the day to prevent gatherings.
She pointed out that the possibility of providing distance education tools and devices in schools is currently being studied, so that this idea will bear fruit as some teachers have neither the financial capabilities nor the appropriate place to hold virtual classes from their homes.

Application constraints

She said that one of the plans being studied by the Ministry is to give school administrators a degree of flexibility in applying the permanence of teachers in schools, so that they are assigned to arrange the permanence of teachers and give some of them the authority to work from their homes, if they have the financial and technical capabilities.

The sources stated that the Ministry is looking into the obstacles to applying e-learning to kindergarten and first to third grade students, who need follow-up by parents, especially since most of the parents are employees, and therefore the subject of follow-up to their  children will be difficult in the event of the start of the government whirlpools.
