Education Ministry Adapts Study Plan, Tackles Absence Phenomenon Effectively

29 April 2024 Education

Approaching the conclusion of the 2023-2024 academic year, educational authorities are grappling with persistent student absence issues, particularly prevalent since the onset of the last month of Ramadan. Despite these challenges, the Ministry of Education confirms that the curricula for the second semester remained on track, with no disruptions to lessons across middle and secondary levels.

Al-Rai newspaper reports that the ministry has taken proactive steps to mitigate student absences, aligning the study plan with holidays and vacations. Rumors of end-of-year exams being adjusted to accommodate increased absences have been strongly refuted by ministry sources, who emphasize the fair and consistent preparation of exam papers.

Primary schools have commenced brief examinations, scheduled to run until the end of next week. Meanwhile, preparations for end-of-year vacations are underway, with kindergartens set to begin on June 6 and other stages on July 1, with the second round starting on July 15.

The rotation of exam committee heads and observers remains under scrutiny, with discussions ongoing regarding internal versus external rotations. While the ministerial decision allows for internal rotations, the recommendation for external rotations to prevent fraud is being considered.

Minister of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Adel Al-Adwani, recently inspected the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Educational Zone, addressing various educational matters including the implementation of the fingerprint system for employee attendance, set to commence at the start of the next academic year.
