Raids In Malls, Groceries, Cafes To Ensure Health Rules
Inspectors from the municipality toured several commercial complexes, grocery stores, cafes and restaurants in the Capital Governorate to ensure that health precautionary and preventive measures are observed in a bid to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus, reports Al-Qabas daily. In a statement to the daily, director of the Capital Municipality Bader Al-Otaibi indicated the inspectors were monitoring health measures, including wearing masks, gloves and maintaining physical distancing, adding the campaign covered 6,450 shops, of which 62 were closed for violation.
Al-Otaibi added that 523 violation citations and 386 warning citations were issued to grocery stores located in investment housing areas, and parallel markets and restaurants. He also said that inspectors from the Public Cleaning and Road Works Department followed up the work of the companies, which the municipality contracted to wash and sterilize 28,772 containers and transport 121,087 cubic meters of residential and construction waste and scrap.
He added that inspectors in the supervisory team at the Department of Auditing and Follow-up of Municipal Services conducted field inspections on 6,450 grocery stores at investment housing, parallel markets and restaurants issuing 133 violations, in addition to 27 closure orders for shops not adhering to the health requirements and posing imminent threat to the health and safety of the public. They also issued 177 warnings. On the other hand, Director of the Public Cleaning and Road Works Department at the Municipality of Farwaniya Saad Al-Khureinij said that inspectors issued 22 violation citations and 9 warnings, and referred 2 violators to Khaitan police station to complete the legal procedures against them. Also, they lifted 28 neglected vehicles and heavy equipment from a public square in Khairan.
