Pam Resumes Inspections Campaigns

Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), after a hiatus of two months, is once again going after the residence law violators, especially those who work for others rather than their sponsors.

Al-Jarida has learned the inspection committees entrusted with regulating the labor market and controlling residence law violating marginal workers had suspended work because of overcrowding at the Ministry of Interior deportation centers.

According to sources, PAM Deputy Director for Manpower Protection Affairs, Dr. Mubarak Al-Azmi has instructed the labor inspectors to cover all areas especially Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Shuwaikh Industrial Area which are crowded with loose workers.

The sources stated over the past two months hundreds of labor law violating workers have been deported – workers working for others rather than their sponsors and those reported absconding by their sponsors.

The sources added, in case of domestic workers, the General Administration of Residence Affairs Investigations the Ministry of the Interior is notified and legal action is taken against the worker and the sponsor.
